Santiago town was a buzz with pilgrims that had completed the Camino way, which was inspiring and to hear the piper welcoming them into the city was emotional. The town was a great place to explore with so many narrow streets and alleyways that made it even more interesting. I and my friend arrived as pilgrims on the Camino. We took a fabulous rooftop tour of the Camino the day after we arrived but would have liked to have visited the other museums. As a pilgrim who has walked into Santiago twice, I will always enjoy the energy of this city. It's so special. There are great restaurants and cafes/bars and plenty of historical buildings to visit. The cathedral is a must and the museum. Whether or not you are a religious person, the historical significance is impressive. Beautiful small city with a stunning cathedral. The cathedral is free to visit. We did queue for about 40 mins for entry but it was well worth it, especially seeing the extraordinary spectacle of the swinging of the huge incense censer at midday mass.
