This is the best hotel I've ever stayed in. The interiors are stunning and our room was exceptional with beautiful views of the cathedral and city. The bed was so comfortable. Staff were fantastic and attentive at the pool area. Bigger pool than I had thought from reviews! Location is amazing as well - we didn't want to leave!

FAQs about hotels in Málaga

The Colourful Soul of the Costa del Sol

The birthplace of Picasso is as colourful as an artist’s palette, from the deep blue of the Mediterranean Sea to the golden sun, which gives 300 days of sunshine per year. When the sun sets, the vibrant nightlife awakens and you’ll find your place amongst the youthful square of the old centre, the trendy bars of La Malagueta or on one of the terraces of Pedregalejo.

There’'s also rich history underneath the sun and fun. Alcazaba is a Moorish castle from the 11th century and just next to it are the remnants of a Roman Theatre. The white stone tower of the Malaga Cathedral rises up in the heart of the city centre, and offers an interesting respite from sun bathing on the magnificent and popular beaches.

A more modern history can be appreciated by visiting the birthplace of Picasso and a museum full of exhibitions by Malaga’s most famous resident. A more relaxed Spanish city than Madrid and Barcelona, Malaga is still the gateway to the Costa del Sol and the busy Malaga Airport is only 10 km from the centre of town.

From budget hostels to 5-star luxury hotels, with Booking.com you’re sure to find the perfect accommodation for your sunny holiday.

Málaga turned out to be a wonderful destination for a family trip – a city that perfectly combines history, culture, and Mediterranean charm. The old town with Plaza de la Constitución, Alcazaba, and the Mirador de Gibralfaro revealed the city’s rich past, while Paseo del Parque and Muelle Uno by the port offered beautiful seaside walks. We also loved the lively Mercado Central de Atarazanas and the authentic restaurants where we enjoyed local cuisine. During our trip we explored other gems nearby: the picturesque white village of Frigiliana, Nerja with its Cueva de Nerja and the stunning Balcón de Europa, as well as the relaxed Torrox Costa. We really enjoyed time by the sea in Torremolinos and Benalmádena, and our day trip to Marbella and Puerto Banús impressed us with its luxury yachts and vibrant atmosphere. Our journey brought together history, beaches, natural beauty, and authentic Andalusian villages – everything that made this Costa del Sol adventure truly unforgettable.

Malaga is very good place for families and groups of friends to visit. Just be sure to check the weather, as it can be very hot and you might not feel like going out during the day.The cathedral is stunning, and the marina is lovely to walk around. the food is delicious and the city is not too big which makes it easy to explore. They had factory outlet if you want to go for shopping and nice high street shops. above all i love their sweets.

Our biggest disappointment was the “famous” El Pimpi restaurant which we had specifically booked ahead of our stay in Malaga. The staff were lack lustre and not much help. They referred us to the QR code for scanning to access the menu, which was a pain to use. The service was slow and only three of our four meals arrived. No one bothered to check if everything was ok so we had to physically flag down another member of staff to raise this issue. The response was more or less “it’ll be along shortly, don’t panic”. It wasn’t, and we didn’t cos the the food was not worth getting excited about. Very poor all round, will not be back. There are lots of really good eateries in Malaga that you don’t need to book ahead.

I liked the cycle ride into the city, and exploring the old town and port. I enjoyed a self-guided architecture walk/cycle ride. We cycled to the botanical gardens which were amazing. The old town was lovely and Picasso's house was very interesting. The food was delicious.
