Beautiful little town within easy reach of Castalla - if the bus arrives! I had timed my flight into Alicante to coincide with the two buses required: first bus into Alicante city centre, and the second bus from there to Castalla. I waited for half an hour for the first bus, but it never arrived; there was a screen which simply read ‘20+ [minutes until the next bus]’ and never changed for the entire time I waited. In the end, I gave up and got a taxi to Castalla for €65.00, having certainly missed the connecting bus from Alicante to Castalla, so bear in mind that your journey here may not be as smooth as planned! However, once I got here, it was all worth it! Even on foot, virtually everything is within reach, whether it be hiking opportunities in the local countryside, bars and restaurants, or supermarkets and local shops. A car would naturally make things easier in terms of speed of getting around and access to hiking areas that bit too far to otherwise get to, and there are no in-town buses beyond the aforementioned one, so you’re on your own in that regard, but there is a taxi rank, should you wish to save your time and energy for a hike!Guest review byHayleyUnited Kingdom - 2.0

Castalla is an interesting place to visit, the castle is beautiful also the surroundings, mountains, bike routes, mountaineering....and there are a lot of extraordinary places to eat. It is near to Alicante city too just 30 kilometres to the beach.Guest review bySusanaSpain
