Prague is like Prais 2.0 in my opinion because during WW2 it was stood safe due to their people accepting others even though they were Nazi! And for me as a Persian they almost accept me as who I am but there is still room for adaptation to learn their culture! A lots of Americans and UK people go there including French and Canadians I met. I loved the openess of women as well as their knowledge in Engish was better that I expected which explains why USA and UK people are most visitors. The buildings in Prague are stunning, the views of the Vltava River are beautiful and the old-style trams are charming. There is so much to see that you need to either be very selective or very relaxed - we stumbled across the Loreta Praha, a stunning baroque church/basilica/cloister opposite the Cernin Palace near the Prague Castle in Hradcany. One of the best places for good quality, authentic Czech food is the Restaurace Mincovna on Starometske nam, on the north-east corner of the Old Town Square. It's a bit pricey, but the food, ambience and friendly service are worth it. For easier moving around the city, consider buying a several day (1 day or 3-day) transport ticket from the yellow ticket machines just outside the airport. (The 3-day ticket currently costs about £11 sterling.) And be sure to validate it before getting on your first bus by inserting it into the yellow machines nearby. A very busy city but easy to get around without using transport. Restaurants are everywhere so easy to get food. Tours available needed to be more explicit as a tour we took ended up as a four hour walking tour as opposed to the bus and walk we had expected. A wonderful, historic, culturally unique city. Full of quintessential central-European architecture, and yet often with a uniquely Prague twist due to Prague's having been a centre of the Art Nouveau movement. Lovely cafes and beer houses. Central European food is typically not quite my favourite, but I believe it's best in Prague/Czech Republic. Definitely worth trying. Think duck breast in cranberry sauce with dumplings and pickled cabbage on the side. The city's historic is particular and unique, and the art museums are top-class. The bookshops are a great place to learn about and sample the Czech Republic (especially Prague's) ridiculously rich twentieth-centre literature scene. Kafka is most famous, but he's just the tip of the iceberg (I recommend Bohumil Hrabal). The city is divided into two by a river. On the east, the main highlight is the old town, including the immensely historical Jewish Quarter with its synagogues. To the west, the street become more grand and stately, with the palace complex on top of the hill a highlight. The river itself is a gem. You can descend from the streets to the shoreline, filled with chic bars in arches under the wall and with boats that have been repurposed as restaurants and open-air beer halls. You can instead cross the bridges and enjoy the scenic views, especially from the iconic Charles Bridge of course.Guest review byJonathanMalta
