Is a new property so all facilities are in very good condition. The location is nice due to being a little away from the village center agitation but still 20 min walk. You get free bus tickets and the stop is just in front of the hotel. The accommodation has stunning views. They have rituals products and all smells super clean at all time. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is good and you have a great nespreaso machine in the room! There is a Japanese restaurant on site as well.

Alpine Resort and Large Glaciers

Grindelwald lies at more than 1000 metres above sea level, offering top-class ski slopes and an imposing Alpine landscape. It is located in the canton of Bern, in the Jungfrau-Aletsch UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Aletsch is the largest glacier to be found in the Alps.

Although evidence shows humans have been present in the region for thousands of years, the first long-lasting settlements date back to the Middle Age. For a long period, the destiny of the village was attached to the influence of the Interlaken Abbey, until the times of the Protestant Reformation.

Tourist activity begun in the 18th century, bringing new life and wealth to the village. During the second half of the 19th century, roads and railway lines were developed, allowing a constant influx of visitors.     It looks like heaven...so beautiful, but stay out of the main village for accommodations. Shop at the small local shops on the fringe. Do grocery shop to save on meals, Coop and Aldi are cheap and they the have better priced souvenirs! Be respectful of the local culture and embrace it all!

    Grindelwald is a beautiful town, we found people at restaurants and other site seeing places very helpful & soft spoken. we had visited Grindelwald from 7th - 11th August 2025, morning & evening were pleasant & day time it was sunny. We had hired a car so we drove around near by areas of Grindelwald.

    Great hiking. Not enough quality eating establishments. Would have loved information about the valley’s history that didn’t cost so much. Paying for tap water with a meal was not acceptable. People wew lovely.

    Lovely town with a lot of activities.

    Lovely town with a lot of activities. It can be a bit pricey but you can hike for free to your heart's content. A lot of people are paragliding, it was nice to see and it actually makes you want to try it too. Maybe next time!

    We visited a LOT of places in the Jungfrau region and while we loved Murren and Wengen, we decided that we definitely chose the best base in Grindelwald. It has such good transport links - great options for walks, activities and mountains that you could spend a week here and not need to go further than Terminal to catch a cable car to somewhere spectacular.

    A small cute town located in the mountain area with a great view of the mountains and closer to the cable rides to take to go to the mountain top. All shops coops stores pharmacy closes by 8pm. Not much options for food delivery. A very silent town with no pubs or bars with music.

    The place is a bit further away from the city center, about 15-20 mins walk from the train station. I appreciate it since that means you get to stay at the quieter side of Grindelwald. Hotel room is a bit bare, but you have everything you need. They also have a public area where you can use common fridge and microwave. The breakfast was a nice surprise for us, since we didn't expect the room to come with breakfast. It's basic, but it's nice -- you know how expensive the food in Switzerland is.

    The Sonnenberg is the best value in Grindelwald. The views of the valley and peaks are unforgettable. We truly felt welcomed to the Sonnerberg unlike other Grindelwald hotels I've stayed in. We had cycled over 2 major passes from Andermatt so the 200 meter walk was no big deal. The couple managing the hotel booked dinners in the village for our group which completed our two night stay.

    It is about 12 minutes walk from the train station. You can also take bus 121 from the station (only 1 stop away). Nearby to Grindelwald First station (5 minutes walk). Fruit basket available at the front desk. Migros supermarket right next to the hotel. Breakfast was not bad. Our room faces the main road but it wasn't noisy.

    Close to Grindelwald station. Very easy to locate. Bus station was also very close - right in the front of the hotel - which connected different parts of Grindelwald. The view of Eiger mountain from our balcony was exceptional. Please opt for the room with balcony although it is more expensive
