FAQs about hotels in Jasper

The Uplifting Power of Nature

Jasper sits in a green valley within a national park surrounded by the majestic Canadian Rockies. Water in its various forms has shaped the dramatic scenery and continues to create serene landscapes.

Tree-lined Lake Beauvert is the closest to town, but Pyramid and Patricia lakes are more famous thanks to the rugged peaks perfectly reflected in their still waters. Arguably the best of all is Maligne Lake whose incredible water colour is eclipsed by small, pine-lined Spirit Island. You may not know the name, but you’ll probably recognise the view.

Many glaciers come off the huge Columbia Icefield, roughly midway between Jasper and Lake Louise. Some have cut canyons where you can go ice walking. Other winter sports include ice skating and skiing at the Marmot Basin resort, named after local animals.

Bears inhabit the surrounding forests and more wildlife lives at The Den at Whistler Inn, just one Jasper accommodation option on Booking.com alongside mountain lodges and pet-friendly hotels with pools.

The Jasper Tramway – Canada’s highest cable car – goes to the top of The Whistlers mountain, and on the slopes of another are the Miette Hot Springs open-air pool.  The Jasper-Yellowhead Museum details the area’s history, and traditional Haida styles and colours are celebrated in the modern Two Brothers Totem Pole

Jasper is a great place to visit with lots of activities in around the town. Whilst it was badly affected by the wildfire in 2024 and you obviously still see the effects of this around the area, the town is very much open as are most tourist attractions and we should all support them.

    We stayed one night.

We stayed one night. We ate at the friendly Whistle Stop Pub (good atmosphere and food, great staff). Next morning, ate at Mitty's (good food, friendly staff). Some nice shops to wander about in. Would have liked to stay there longer, but we had a fixed itinerary. Hoping to spend more time there on our next trip to Canada.

We had planned to stay in Jasper longer but shortened our stay due to rain. The scenic 232 km (144 mile) drive through the Canadian Rockies from Lake Louise to Jasper, called Icefields Parkway, has breathtaking landscapes. Don't miss it!

Jasper was our favourite place of our tour.

Jasper was our favourite place of our tour. It is stunningly beautiful in spite of the devastating fire of 2024. We went on a guided to Lake Miligne, which included a boat trip to Spirit Island. We saw lots of wildlife on the way and had a very knowledgeable guide. We went on a wildlife bus tour in the evening with an equally knowledgeable guide and saw even more wildlife. Both guides told us about the fire and were very optimistic about the rejuvenation of the forest. There are an enormous amount of burnt trees, but also a huge amount of the area is unaffected. Definitely well worth a visit to spectacular place. We went with a guide on a hike up Sulphur Mountain which had spectacular views.

Jasper has been ravaged by the wildfires in 2024.

Jasper has been ravaged by the wildfires in 2024. Reconstruction is well underway in the township, however thousands of hectares of forests are decimated. It is a stark reminder that nature rules. Definitely worth a visit to show support for the local community as they rebuild. It is very easy to walk round Jasper in a couple of hours. The terrain is flat with wide sidewalks suitable for less able visitors. There are plenty of coffee shops and gift shops although these do become repetitive.

The manager and reception employees were very nice and helpful. The building itself is a very nice heritage building, very charming with a large restaurant space, wide open entrance areas and stairs. The hotel is in the centre of Jasper, so walking everywhere is convenient. There are lots of nice restaurants and cafes around. The bathroom was completely renovated and really nice and functional. I liked the atmosphere of the place, reminiscent of old times and the friendliness of the people running the place. The price was affordable.

Staff behind the front desk were polite and friendly, check in was smooth. The room was spacious & the bathroom was big and accessible friendly. They had an on site pool & gym but we never used it. The hotel was clean & well maintained. The on site restaurant has good reviews and is the most aesthetically pleasing part of the hotel. Easy to get to and from for attractions around Jasper.
