what a nice city, very clean. lots of opportunities to visit museum, restaurant. We also made a tour with city guide that was very pleasant. we discovered the beautiful cathedral. Very easy to walk around this small city, many pedestrians only areas and really good road surfaces - all very smooth and level, great for wheelechairs. Lots of interesting buildings including the Cathedral and Belfry. A number of museums including theBeaux Arts and the Military museum (which was excellent), and the museum of Folklore was different! Lovely cafes, bars and restaurants though pricey in the main square cheaper places were available further out. A must is to see the surprisingly amusing 20 min history film in the Tourist office, Tournais is very, very old and has a very chequered history with multiple owners. I’d never heard of the place but there is loads to do here.
I’d never heard of the place but there is loads to do here. The town of the five bells has lots of history and is a great place to see art. There is also a medieval bridge. This is only open for tours on specific days. It looked like there were lots of lovely restaurants and a nice town square. The bakery patisserie Vivienne is well worth a visit. The city of Tournai is beautiful!
The city of Tournai is beautiful! It has that old world charm that we were looking for. There are also some interesting sights and museums. We were very impressed with the fine arts museum and with the natural history museum. We had wonderful meals at several restaurants on or near the Grand Place. Tournai also had a small town vibe, and we felt very safe walking around our neighborhood at night. All in all, a perfect stay.Guest review byNewman - 8.0

Tournai appeared to be quiet when we arrived but it really came to life in the evenings. We tried a couple of very good restaurants, one of which we had booked in advance, but many others were fully booked; an indication that they were also good. Several splendid bars with, of course, excellent Belgian beers. The Apartment was spacious and immaculate. Fred, the host, top marks for his hospitality, always went out of his way to make me feel welcomed. Tourist information booklets were graciously provided which came in handy.
