I loved the overall look and feel. It is modern, clean, and welcoming, with a brilliant outdoor bar/seating area for a nice drink after a long day of driving. I located quickly just off the main roads. Check-in was smooth, and having stayed in many hotels, I think it's been one of the more memorable hotels to use again. It also has a children's play area just outside reception, which my kids really enjoyed; it also had live chickens!

FAQs about hotels in Ghent

A Historical, Cultural and Culinary Gem

Located in the Flemish region of Belgium, the beautiful medieval city of Ghent is not only a city of history, but also a romantic place to visit. The city is full of hidden historical, cultural and culinary gems that you can easily discover.

The Gravensteen or 'Castle of the Count' is a deceptively enchanting sight dating back to the Middle Ages. Constructed by Philip of Alsace, the count of Flanders, it's partially surrounded by a moat and beautifully restored, and hosts an interesting museum about the history of prison life.

Part of the UNESCO World Heritage list, the Belfry of Ghent is a medieval tower overlooking the Old Town centre. Saint Bavo Cathedral and Saint Nicholas' Church are the city's other two towers, with St. Nicholas' Church being one of the oldest landmarks in Ghent (known as Gent in Flemish).

Enjoy a relaxing walk in the picturesque medieval streets and stop at one of the charming traditional restaurants for Belgium beer and a classic Flemish meat stew with French fries. Local delicacies include the popular Belgium chocolate and the purple jelly-filled candies called the 'noses'.

Antwerp International Airport is 52 km away, while Brussels Airport is 55 km. Just book your hotel, guest house, apartment, or B&B through Booking.com and discover everything this stunning city has to offer.

Yeah, Bruges is lovely, and Antwerp has its highlights, but...

Yeah, Bruges is lovely, and Antwerp has its highlights, but Ghent... !! If you can only see one beautiful Belgian City - see Ghent. Wander about enjoying the city, the place is a visual delight.. the old (St Nicks) and the new (the covered market). The people are lovely (their English probably better than yours!) ... then do a boat trip, they are fun and it rests your feet. In the early evening do NOT miss the church bells ... (no spoiler, just dont miss them). Ghent is the best of the five cities we stayed in this trip - by far, and the evenings are sublime. As with many parts of Europe cars are being phased out, so theres almost no traffic to fear. Bicycles rule. There are so many bars to enjoy its impossible to seperate any out... but the Celtic Towers had a proper feel to it, and Trollkelder is a buzz. But they are all superb. Although if you are eating late, dont leave it too late! Most restaraunts seemed to close at 9pm. This year was our second visit and how I wish we had planned to stay longer.

    Beautiful and pleasantly atmospheric city.

Beautiful and pleasantly atmospheric city. We were in the Yalo Boutique Hotel just a few minutes walk from the centre. Great centre with lively bars, but also quiet side streets with great restaurants and plenty of outside seating everywhere. Very relaxed atmosphere with all age groups enjoying the evening ambience. Plenty of attractions including stunning churches and the Castle of the Counts, boat trips and museums - University Science museum very good with excellent interactive information screens. Ghent is nicely situated in Belgium for trips to Bruges, Oostende and Brussels.

We were in Ghent during a long summer festival.

We were in Ghent during a long summer festival. If you like festivals this is good, it was definitely lively. We were pleased we hadn't booked accommodation right in the centre of town as it would have been very noisy at night. We found that the festival structures obscured the historic buildings in the town centre which was disappointing. Easy town to walk around. Easy train access for day trips - we went to Oostende (don't bother) and Brugge (fabulous).

From first contact with Herbert, we knew we are about to have a wonderful time in his property. And we weren’t wrong! Lovely and polite owners who did awesome job with decorating the apartment. There is really nothing that you will miss. Kitchen and bathroom fully equipped, towels and bedding at disposal, everything very clean and cosy. Rooftop terrace is a hidden gem! Connection to city center is easy, either with bus, or Uber. We can definitely recommend this place, and we are sure we will come stay here again next time we visit Belgium.
