Great City.
Great City. Unfortunately we went during peak summer months so it was very hot, almost 40 to 48 degrees centigrade. City is beautiful. People are kind, humble and helpful but most do not speak English so we used the google translation on our phones. The Baku boulevard was great, lot of people hanging around until midnight and beyond. No threat of robbery. Baku is very safe with police on duty in each area. There is so much to do in Baku. Its a unexplored gem. Tourists are mostly from Russia and the middle East and some parts of Europe but hardly any from North America. Food was delicious with so much variety. The city is calm, beautiful, and peaceful, offering plenty of places for photography and relaxation. It is definitely worth visiting. Negative: Unfortunately, there is a noticeable issue with tourist exploitation. Some locals make remarks in their language assuming visitors do not understand. A very pleasant surprise!
A very pleasant surprise! Half the price of London - a meal for two with a bottle of wine averaged £30. I'd recommend Borani and Dorma - both in Fountain Square - tasty food and extremely friendly. In August, the temperature is around 38 degrees but there is a cool breeze which took the edge off - most inside places are air-conditioned. Definitely download the Bolt app (Uber) - taxis are extremely cheap and handy to get around. We went to Shikh Beach which was 5 miles out and it only cost £3.50! It's a 6 hour flight from London and Azerbaijan Airlines were awesome - I'd definitely recommend this as an affordable and enjoyable destination!Guest review byDW73United Kingdom

The staff were helpful on check in and helped me sort out a very early morning taxi when I left, which was cheaper than I had expected. The room was a good size, with the small elegance as the rest of the hotel and the whole place was very clean. The absolute best bit was the rooftop restaurant for breakfast though, with hanging plants, singing birds and great views of the Flame Towers and the city roofs.
