It is perfect as an overnight stopover. Clean, tidy, close to shops and a lovely chinese restaurant. The room is a bit small but for what I paid it was so perfect for what I needed.

Overlooking the peaceful Mitchell River, The Riversleigh is a historic hotel built in 1886. Some rooms offer a private spa bath and a private balcony. A continental buffet breakfast is provided.

I loved my stay at the Bairnsdale Main Motel - a classic, old-school "mom and pop" style motel, which I just love! I had the pleasure of meeting with and talking with the fantastic host, a really good man with a heart of gold. The room was cosy, quiet, clean and very comfortable, and I slept really well there. It had everything I needed for a self-catered stay, and I particularly appreciated the microwave in the shared area. I highly recommend a visit to nearby Raymond Island for koala-spotting if one is in the area for tourism. I would have liked to have stayed longer.
