We also enjoyed visiting Salamanca Place even though the markets weren't on at the time. The thing I like most about Hobart was that all of the attractions- beaches, marinas, good food, museums and botanic gardens, were within walkable distance. There were so many lovely parks and gardens, and my favorite of all; the number of significant buildings which have been restored and maintained and available for visitors to see. My partner and I are Octogenarians, and as such our needs and expectations may differ significantly to much younger persons. There was nothing that stood out as being particularly interesting to us; it was a visit just to see another another City and it's people. You are literally right above where Salamanca markets are held. There are heaps of dining and drinking options within a minutes walk. Art galleries, shops, CBD etc is only minutes away by walking. A few days earlier I had stayed in North Hobart and compared to that hotel, which was a 20 minute walk up/down a hill, the location of Galleria could not be topped. Highly recomment.
