Scenery was fantastic, and the interior was superbly decorated and clean. Loved the small quirks such as books, extra information pamphlets and beautiful furniture from Tim’s shop. Kudos to Tim who went above and beyond to share with us information about the treks. Tim

Spotless, extremely well equipped, spacious and the wildlife in front of the porch was spectacular. Naighre was exceptionally helpful in her very detailed explanation of our options as first time Hall’s Gap visitors which made our stay so much more valuable. Very much appreciated. Waking up with kangaroos, ducks and cockatoos ruining while grazing the the beautiful garden was a magical sight. In other review somebody complained about synthetic sheets, well 80% cotton is good for me. Slept like a baby!

I absolutely loved this place: a lovely spacious bungalow located at a pond, in the midst of woods and meadows where wild roos attended every evening and even more domesticated animals like lamas and cattle on the adjoining farm.

Loved the log fire. Totally didn’t see it on the booking. It was so nice when some wintery weather came through. They also turned on the heater for our arrival which was lovely. Having breakfast with a view of the forest, birds and kangaroos was lovely. Was lucky enough to see a young one that had the case of the zoomies. Super easy key collection. No needing to go to an office. Got a text about the key and the code. Was super helpful. The location is awesome.

We loved everything about this motel from the moment we arrived and were greeted by the warm and friendly hosts. The setting is blissful with a back lawn leading down to a lake. The room is absolutely spotless and so well appointed with generous amounts of everything you would need like coffee and very nice toiletries and soft white towels and lots and lots of clean soft pillows and comfortable bed. The decorating is tasteful and made such a lovely atmosphere. So thoughtfully appointed with dark blinds and nice lighting. We cannot recommend this motel enough and are staying here three times on our trip and feel so glad to have found it and thank you Jo and Ian for your perfect hospitality. Highly recommended for a wonderful experience.

The Zoo and McKenzie Falls were highlights for us. Both are definitely worth doing. There are also several very good restaurants and a nice brewery pub. We only were there for an overnight stay, but could have stayed longer.

Halls Gap is a small town abutting the beautiful Grampians...

Halls Gap is a small town abutting the beautiful Grampians National Park. Halls Gap town has many facilities for a short stay. The main attraction of the town is its direct access to walking trails. There is a range of trails, and they cater to many fitness levels. Much has been done to improve accessibility and safety in the National Park in recent years. The unique rock formations that can be seen from the town and the myriad wildlife all around are a real drawcard. Having a car allows you to see more of the park, and I'd say, is a must. It's a place I have visited more than 10 times, and I'll keep coming back.

Lovely place for rest and relaxation or adventurous...

Lovely place for rest and relaxation or adventurous activities like hiking or bush walks. Plenty of accommodation types available - although I would avoid the Kookaburra Motel and Pinnacle Holiday Lodge as they were extremely negative experiences for us - and there is also lots of places / space for caravans and camping. Stores are quite tourist oriented so if you need a “regular” shop, Stawell is a 25 minutes drive away as the supermarket in Halls Gap has limited choice and stock and is very expensive. A range of eateries is available; our favourites are The Kookaburra Hotel for dine-in where the staff are ALWAYS very friendly, helpful and efficient and The Town FryerFish & Chip and Pizza for take-away because the food is always fresh and delicious with great meal deals for families (avoid Halls Gap Tavern where staff are rude, extremely unfriendly and not at all service orientated!) There is a wonderful playground to keep children active and entertained, the Halls Gap Zoo can fill in a day … although it is the main attraction for us so we ended up buying a membership as it worked out cheaper … MacKenzie Falls is beautiful and a relatively short drive away but beware the resident emu who loves to snatch food from you! All in all, a wonderful place to visit.

Me and my family went to the Halls Gap Zoo which was worth the cost of the tickets. It was cheaper to buy a Family Ticket than to buy individual tickets for each person which was good. The township of Halls Gap is very small & has a cozy feel to it. We had dinner at the Halls Gap Hotel & the meals were fantastic & very well priced. Definitely worth visiting the hotel for any occasion. We had breakfast at Livefast Cafe and although it took them a long time to bring out everything it was well worth the wait as the food was excellent. Halls Gap has everything that you need and a few niche shops to make the town unique.

Halls Gap is so underestimated, especially by folk like us...

Halls Gap is so underestimated, especially by folk like us living nearby. The picturesque scenery is beyond words with rocky, colorful outcrops surrounding the township which is nestled in the Fyans Valley at the foot of the Wonderland & Mount William Ranges only about 3 hours from Melb. There is so much to see & do with wonderful daytime and evening places to eat. The Halls Gap Pub provided a great venue for our first night with a friendly welcome by the Albanian owner. The extensive, well priced menu, offered a variety for adults & kids alike, including those with dietary needs. The kids explored the indoor playground allowing the adults to have an enjoyable meal whilst the kids played happily nearby. The adventurous, well designed, safe playgrounds scattered around the township, offers venues allows the adults to watch the kids playing whilst they sit & chat or wine & dine. We visited the Halls Gap Zoo one day, which was amazing. As we had littlies with us, perhaps, as a suggestion in the future, a novelty train or bus could circulate to pick up those who struggled to walk the whole way as it is quite a distance. Our little ones ranged in ages from 2 to 8 years & even the older ones struggled towards the end. Strollers should be encouraged at the start for toddlers. Congratulations to all involved in the zoo as it was clean & animals beautifully presented in natural environment with the friendly, caring staff, happy to share their knowledge about the exhibits. A visit to Bellfield Lake is also a must as is a drive around the areas impacted by the fires. Businesses are still struggling to survive & I encourage all who are planning a trip in the near future to do so. You won't be disappointed!!
