Berat is a must see.
Berat is a must see. The people are super friendly and helpful. If you take the bus, find the bus stop to take it to the city centre. I walked 45 minutes from the bus station to the city centre. I wish someone told me I could take a bus ahead of time. When you leave, take the bus from the city centre. The castle is large and interesting and no charge . Parking under ground in the town was 100 Lek/ Euro per hour and keeps the car cool . The friendly house restaurant has great views and good food . Two historic areas to wander through - very enjoyable.Guest review byDeniseAustralia - 10.0
Berat is such a beautiful city.
Berat is such a beautiful city. If you love ancient cities with lots of character and charm you will love Berat. The cobbled alleyways with shops/restaurants and hotels hidden away in every bend was so lovely to walk through. Felt like we transported back in time. We stayed in hotel Ansel which was very well located and the hotel had free parking. The hotel also had stunning views of Berat. It was easy to walk to all the sites in Berat. Lovely atmosphere and beautiful place.
Lovely atmosphere and beautiful place. It was fun staying in the castle for a couple of nights. Highly recommend the Vila Art if you want somewhere to stay. The basic opinion is very simple ; in reference to famous words of the most valuable things for success are 3P's ; People ,People and People. I mean the Albanians. And although Berat City is located a bit outside of the main route of planned goals of tourist trips it's worth to being there at least a few days. I plan to go back there very soon. We had over half a day (arriving at 3pm and leaving by 11am)...
We had over half a day (arriving at 3pm and leaving by 11am), the area is very walkable and as it was summer, we could walk after dinner till about 8pm before it got dark. There is alot of life in the main square after dinner and that was nice to see people/ families in the park and at cafes. The lights of the buildings come on and is beautiful against the night sky. The hosts are a small family, who are all incredibly kind and positive people. The food at the restaurant was the best and (crazy enough) cheapest we had in Albania. The breakfast was also great with fruit, yoghurt, eggs, pastries, jams and very good coffee. The hotel is located inside Berat castle, which makes for an unreal location. We were recommended here by a friend and it was by far the cheapest of 5 hotels we had booked. It was amazing, immaculately clean, wonderful owner who was so attentive. Breakfast was perfect on the roof top terrace. Also ordered a pizza one night and played cards up there.
