A Modern Arabian Dream
As you fly into Abu Dhabi International Airport, it’s probably good to know that the vast array of streets with multiple names is best negotiated by landmarks rather than exact addresses. And you won’t be short of landmarks since this fast-growing metropolis is packed with tourist attractions.
The Sheikh Zayed Mosque is the 6th largest mosque in the world and is already open, nearing completion. Most buildings and public areas are on this grand scale, such as the 123 metre flagpole on Marina Island or the extensive Khalifa Park which, amongst other attractions, has its own train.
Along the aquamarine waters of the Persian Gulf lies the remarkable waterfront of Corniche, which offers a walkway along its entire 6 km. From here the modern Arabian skyline can be taken in and by night the scene is illuminated, creating an even more glorious spectacle.
However, shopping is really where it’s at in Abu Dhabi. Malls such as the Marina, Abu Dhabi and Al Wahda Malls provide a multitude of goods, endless boutique options and plentiful food halls. Stay at some of the finest 5-star hotels in buildings that literally scrape the sky or find more budget accommodations in this luxury city, with over 90 to choose from on Booking.com.

Abu Dhabi is a cultural city — calmer and more laid-back than Dubai — with beautiful greenery, stunning architecture, and an easygoing atmosphere. It’s home to world-class attractions like the Louvre Abu Dhabi, Yas Island, and the majestic Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. AD is great if you are looking for a quiet and relaxing stay...
AD is great if you are looking for a quiet and relaxing stay in the UAE. Its not Dubai, and hence its easy to get around with the minimum of time spent in traffic. Yas Island is great for spending a day at the attractions and the mall. Also, the airport is a breeze to get in and out of. Plenty of outdoor activities are on offer, if you prefer not to just lounge around the pool and catch some rays. Most of the fun places are climate controlled, you can really enjoy Abu Dhabi in the summer.... great to get away from the packed EU places with only the beach to satisfy your day.
