Paje Beach, Paje
With Paje Beach reachable in a few steps, Ananda Beach Hotel provides accommodation, a restaurant, an outdoor swimming pool, a garden and a private beach area. Complimentary WiFi is provided throughout the property. From the very first step into Anada Hotel, we were embraced by a profound sense of warmth and care that made us feel instantly at home. The reception staff welcomed us with genuine kindness, the security team and porters assisted us with thoughtfulness, and the housekeeping staff ensured every detail of our stay was flawless. Every interaction was infused with heartfelt hospitality that resonated deeply with us. A highlight of our experience was meeting a beautiful Masai family on the beach, accompanied by joyful children who filled the moments with laughter and connection. Our daughter formed a heartwarming bond with their son, creating memories of pure joy and wonder. Their presence added a soulful depth to our time in paradise, making our stay truly unforgettable. Leaving Anada was difficult — it became a sanctuary of peace, warmth, and togetherness. To the remarkable team and the inspiring Masai family, thank you for touching our hearts in ways we will carry with us always. Until we meet again.

Michamvi
Located in Michamvi, Shanuo Beach Bungalows provides free WiFi, and guests can enjoy a garden, a private beach area and a terrace.
There is a fully equipped private bathroom with shower and free toiletries.
I could honestly write a 10-page article in praise of Shanuo.
Firstly, yes. It’s every bit as beautiful as the pictures would have you believe. (With that said, there’s no way to truly capture the beauty of this place through a camera lens. You just have to go there to see that for yourself). Surrounded by coconut trees and brightly coloured tropical flowers, the bungalows overlook the Indian Ocean - a morning dip is a must!
My room was clean and comfortable and I was provided with everything I might need during my stay. Although Shanuo doesn’t have its own restaurant, I can honestly say this has no impact on your stay at all. The breakfasts are generous and Shanuo provides drinks and snacks (at a small fee) if you’re feeling peckish. There are several neighbouring properties along the beach with restaurants. I promise you won’t go hungry!
Secondly, the staff are incredibly accommodating and helpful, and you’re guaranteed to be met with a friendly smile and an enthusiastic “Jambo” 100% of the time. If you need anything, you just need to look up and someone is there to assist.
A big thank you to everyone at Shanuo, but especially to Na who brought my breakfast every morning and who I had lovely chats with, to Daniel who cut copious amounts of fresh aloe vera to tend my sun burn, and of course to the manager, Gillian, who is energetic, friendly and builds meaningful connections with her guests which she uses to tailor her travel tips especially to your needs. This team creates an atmosphere that truly makes you feel as though you’re ‘coming home’.
There’s so much more that I could say, but anyone reading this will begin to think I’m exaggerating. I’m really not. Do yourself a favour and just book! I’ll certainly be coming back here on my next Zanzibar adventure.
Matemwe

Abeid Amani Karume International Airport is 52 km away, and the property offers a paid airport shuttle service. One of the best hotel stays ever! Strongly recommend Joyce and team for your holiday to Zanzibar, everyone made us feel right at home. The hotel was incredibly cozy and homely, with a traditional, beachy feel and beautiful garden and pool. There is lots of space to rest and relax with direct access to the beach. Dinner is served family style each evening - it was wonderful to get to know the other guests and the team was able to cater to our dietary restrictions. The hotel staff helped us organise several different activities and excursions on the island once we arrived, as well as airport transfers and drivers whenever needed. Communication was very smooth.

I had such a fantastic experience staying at Paje Emerald Escapes! The villas are absolutely beautiful—peaceful, well-designed, and a true slice of paradise. But what truly made the stay unforgettable was the incredible staff. A huge thank you to Leslie, who went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable. From arranging airport transfers to organizing tuk-tuk shuttles, she was constantly helpful, professional, and incredibly sweet. Her kindness really made me feel at home. I’d also love to give a special shoutout to Salim for helping me out when a few geckos made their way into the villa. He came over right away, was extremely helpful, and so kind throughout. I would absolutely stay here again—not just for the stunning villas, but because the people here genuinely care. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Paje!

If you need a quiet, beautiful place to relax and recharge - this is it. I was here alone, but it seemed extra nice for couples - romantic, plenty space for yourself and adults only :) Every room/hut is on the sand, has a terrace with ocean view and your own set of umbrellas and sun beds. The personal was super friendly and welcoming. My tip: get up early to enjoy the sunrise and book a massage ;)
The location is beautiful. A perfect beach which feels like a tropical paradise. The cabins are in the middle of the nature and are spatious.
On arrival - we were notified that we'd been upgraded to ocean facing chalets - which was a wonderful unexpected surprise & bonus! Nice to find that the beaches in front and around the hotel/lodge were clean and sandy Bar staff were extremely attentive and always smiling and the cocktails excellent.
The house was beautiful and clean! The house manager Issac was very helpful and personable. He arranged all of our shuttle needs and answered any questions we had. All of the staff and housekeeping were very nice and we felt safe at all times. The pool was very refreshing, and there are rooftop views where you can watch the sunset! I would definitely stay here again.
The beautiful beach is directly reachable, the huts/ rooms are lovely and well equipped. The housekeeping is good and also the Bar/ Restaurant Service - Food is excellent and the prices is really affordable!
The lodge is located at the very end of Kizimkazi, in a quite area, surrounded by nature. An ideal place to relax completely It also has a private beach with sunbeds, hammocks and a fireplace. The accommodation itself are all made of coconut leaves and wood, making you feel like you're sleeping in a huts. The owners, Sandrine and David are absolutely lovely and accommodating. So it the staff. Nice food and very complete and delicious breakfast. Highly recommend it here if you want some peace and quite and a good connexion with nature.
The beach hut was a fantastic location right on the beach with the waves at night lapping on the fence. The staff were all wonderful and helpful
We were in 5 hotels in Zanzibar, and this one was the best! The site is gorgeous and the staff was friendly. Yes, you can say that the bathrooms can be renovated, but this rustic vibe (e.g. wooden shutters on windows, padlock and latch to lock the door) goes well with the surroundings, and also everything was spotless, so really no reason to complain. We also went for a cooking class, where a family shows how to prepare a curry dish in their home. This was such a nice way to learn more about the local community.
