Jomon no Yado Manten offers a sauna and free private parking, and is within 20 km of Shiratani Unsuikyo and 25 km of Yakusugi Land. The location couldn't be better, it is literally across the street from the airport. Bus stops are very plentiful nearby and the hotel staff is very well versed in showing you exactly which buses you need to get to your destination on the island. They are able to call taxis for you if necessary as well. All around wonderful location and very helpful staff!

Set just 25 km from Yakusugi Land, Tomarigi features accommodation in Yakushima with access to a garden, a shared lounge, as well as bicycle parking. Satomi was an incredible host and very helpful throughout the stay. She helped me plan all my hikes and because of her I managed to do the 3 main hikes on the island in my 3 days on Yakushima. I have never had a greater host at a guesthouse. The building has a very fun and quirky interior, it really feels like you are staying in Japanese house. The bed was comfortable enough for me.

The couple that hosts the pension is sweet and the property is peaceful. Super near the airport. Japanese breakfast was beautifully done. Will stay again.

Situated in Yakushima and only 18 km from Shiratani Unsuikyo, Yakushima Cottage Kukai features accommodation with sea views, free WiFi and free private parking. Host was very kind - drove me to Miyanoura for food and to catch my ferry. The cottage was very pleasant.

At Cottage Morinokokage, guests can rent out a cottage with a hammock. Free WiFi is available in the guest rooms. The owner is really friendly and helpful. The cottages maintained well and it has everything you need for a nice stay.

Yakushima Minsyuku Suginoko, a property with a garden, is located in Yakushima, 18 km from Yakusugi Land, 26 km from Shiratani Unsuikyo, as well as 11 km from Yumiyahachiman Shrine. I will definitely stay here again. The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming. There's just a bright atmosphere. It's important to understand that this is not a luxury hotel. If you can accept that it's a place for hikers and travelers to feel comfortable, you'll be fine. For example, there are lots of signs in English saying things like it's OK to hang your wet hiking things in your room! There's a common space where we can get tea and coffee, which we can take to the room. We can also sit there and chat. I liked having a private bathroom/toilet rather than having to go along a corridor like we have to do in many other places. Another thing I really liked was that they have a 9pm "lights out" (meaning silence) because many hikers get up at 4am. I really liked this system. Nice and quiet! For an ensuite room with a bit of breakfast (I was given bread), this was the best value for money on Yakushima.

A 3-minute drive from Ambo Harbour, Yakushima Green Hotel offers Japanese-style and Western rooms with ocean views. The ocean view was beautiful. The staff helpful with the help of the iPad translator. Although the facilities were outdated the eastern style room was worth the experience. Thank you to the staff who helped us!!
