Victoria is a very beautiful city, definitely worth visiting. The ocean, the parks, the unique stores, and especially the food options for us vegans are fantastic! However, I was deeply disturbed by their homeless/drug addicts problem, not so much for safety reasons but more for compassionate ones. That was definitely a damper for me.
Vibrant waterfront city with historic buildings, restaurants, beaches and very walkable. Beautiful coastal city. We loved walking around. Are at Finns for dinner, took a water taxi back. Super fun place to go with something for everyone of all ages.
Victoria is very cute and quaint, it's really nice to walk around exploring, visiting historic buildings and nice shops. Fish and chips at Red Fish Blue Fish and Italian dinner at Il Terrazzo - both excellent choices!
Victoria is always a nice place to visit… lots to see and do. The harbour with the Legislature Building, Empress Hotel, Butchart Gardens, Beach Drive, The ferry boat over to the mainland etc. I could go on and on. Victoria is beautiful.
Staying in James Bay was the right move for us. We wanted easy access to the water, great restaurants, and museums. Everything we did was within 5 -10 blocks of our hotel. In August they do a water taxi ballet that we surprisingly came across on our last day there. The ferry from Port Angeles was only a block away from where we stayed and the water taxis put on a show to send it off. I think they do this one a week during August.
Victoria is nice for a short trip. Visited by ferry , went to the Butterfly Gardens and Butchart Gardens. It was easy to get around walking and by bus. Found several good restaurants in town. I recommend staying near the harbor (Empress hotel landmark). Further away (pandora st.) there are a lot of drug addicts smoking crack in the street and it’s not safe.
